Barrow in Bloom

One of the major priorities of Barrow upon Humber Parish Council has been to improve the public open spaces of our parish. In 2023, the hard work Jon and Alison Nettleton supported by the Parish Council, earned the village a Silver award in the East Midlands in Bloom competition – one down from the Silver Gilt of the previous year, mainly because the village does not have a Barrow in Bloom group.

For an entry to be made next year, the village needs an In Bloom group as it is supposed to be a community effort, not solely the Parish Council’s.

We are looking for a small group of people to co-ordinate what goes on florally in the village and to prepare next year’s entry. This simply means getting a portfolio together (previous ones are available to follow), liaising with our gardener Jon Nettleton and showing the judges round (takes about 2 hours).
